Art Collections Library

The museum’s Art Library is a specialized scholarly library with over 40,000 volumes. Acquisitions are oriented on the museum’s collections devoted to Classical Modernism and art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Exhibition catalogues and artist biographies make up a large part of its holdings. The library is a working collection for museum employees and open to museum visitors and art enthusiasts as well, whether for scholarly research or personal interest.

The library’s holdings are non-circulating and may only be used on site. Visitors are welcome to use our reading room, accessible from the museum. Use of the library is free of charge. A digitalized catalog for titles published after 1990 is available to search the holdings. Older titles can be located using our card catalogue. Titles will be brought to users by our staff upon request. Open stacks with some volumes are located directly in the reading room and are accessible to visitors.

You can reach the library through the main entrance of the museum. Please check in at the security counter.
For barrier-free access and entry after hours, use the south wing entrance. Please call ahead.

Only by appointment. Please phone before your visit.
