Let's celebrate big time(s)!

On 1 April 1825, the Museum Wiesbaden opened its doors to the public for the first time. Its foundation was the result of a pioneering suggestion by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and the commitment of 19th century citizens.

To this day, the dedication of our supporters forms an essential foundation of the State Museum. An outstanding example of this is the Verein der Freunde des Museums Wiesbaden, which was founded over 30 years ago and is now one of the largest friends' associations in Germany.

With numerous educational programmes and events such as admission-free Saturdays and free admission for anyone under the age of 18, we open the doors to art and nature for everyone.

Art and nature under one roof

Today, the Museum Wiesbaden surprises its guests with an unconventional presentation concept that unites art and nature in a unique way. These two departments complement each other time and again and open up new perspectives. A special feature is the approach of providing access to both art and nature through aesthetics.
